Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra Review
Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra Review
- The Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra features a massive 14.6-inch display, making it one of the largest tablet screens available. Combined with powerful performance and a refined Android experience, it sets a high standard for premium tablets.
Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S9 series is the brand’s response to Apple’s iPad Pro lineup, with the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra standing out as the flagship device. Priced at $1,199.99, this tablet boasts a massive 14.6-inch display that delivers an impressive visual experience. Included with the device is the S Pen stylus, alongside a high-performance processor, long-lasting battery, and seamless integration with Samsung smartphones, making it an excellent choice for productivity on the go.
While the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra is priced higher than the base models of the 12.9-inch Apple iPad Pro ($1,099) and Microsoft Surface Pro 9 ($999), it solidifies itself as the top choice for those seeking a premium Android tablet. However, Android’s tablet ecosystem still has some limitations, though Samsung has made notable efforts to optimize the experience and mitigate these shortcomings.
Go Big or Go…Slightly Smaller
- The Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra impressively houses a massive 14.6-inch display in a slim and relatively compact design. It measures 12.85 x 8.21 x 0.21 inches (HWD) and weighs 1.61 pounds. For comparison, the Lenovo Tab Extreme, priced at $949, features a slightly smaller 14.5-inch screen but comes in a marginally larger form factor at 12.9 x 8.3 x 0.23 inches and weighs 1.63 pounds.
- If the Ultra feels overwhelming, the midsize Galaxy Tab S9+ might suit you better, offering a 12.4-inch screen with dimensions of 11.23 x 7.30 x 0.22 inches and a weight of 1.28 pounds. Alternatively, the more compact Galaxy Tab S9 has an 11-inch display, measures 10.01 x 6.53 x 0.23 inches, and weighs just 1.10 pounds. The Galaxy Tab S9 lineup is available in two sleek color options: Beige and Graphite.
For the first time, the Galaxy tablet and its S Pen stylus come with an IP68 rating, making them resistant to both dust and water. All three Tab S9 models can withstand submersion in water for up to 30 minutes and can be easily rinsed off if they get dirty. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5, which, although not the newest version, offers durability against drops from nearly four feet onto hard surfaces and provides excellent scratch resistance. Unlike the Lenovo Tab Extreme and iPad Pros, which lack IP ratings, the Tab S9 stands out with this feature, opening up possibilities for use near pools or at the beach.
The Tab S9 Ultra boasts a 14.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen with a resolution of 2,960 x 1,848 pixels, a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, and a peak brightness of 930 nits. Its effective aspect ratio is 16:10. While the large display delivers excellent visuals, its reflective surface can make outdoor use in direct sunlight challenging.
